Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef (thinly sliced)
  • 4 medium potatoes (peeled and cut into chunks)
  • 1 large onion (sliced)
  • 2 carrots (sliced)
  • 1 cup dashi stock
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon mirin
  • 1 tablespoon sake
  • 2 green onions (chopped for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat a little oil over medium heat and sauté the sliced beef until browned.
  2. Add the sliced onions and cook until they become translucent.
  3. Stir in the potatoes and carrots, mixing well with the beef and onions.
  4. Pour in the dashi stock, soy sauce, sugar, mirin, and sake. Bring to a boil.
  5. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for about 30 minutes or until the vegetables are tender.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with chopped green onions.

Notes

  • This dish is best served with steamed rice.
  • You can adjust the sweetness by adding more or less sugar according to your taste.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
