Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 medium apples
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Optional toppings: chopped nuts, sprinkles, or chocolate

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the apples thoroughly, removing any wax.
  2. Insert a wooden stick into the top of each apple.
  3. In a saucepan, combine sugar, butter, corn syrup, salt, and vanilla over medium heat.
  4. Stir until the mixture comes to a boil, then stop stirring and let it boil until it reaches 240°F (soft ball stage).
  5. Remove from heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
  6. Dip each apple into the caramel, allowing excess to drip off.
  7. Place the coated apples on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  8. Sprinkle with optional toppings if desired.
  9. Let the caramel set at room temperature before serving.

Notes

  • For best results, use tart apples like Granny Smith.
  • Make sure the apples are completely dry for better caramel adherence.
  • Store in a cool place to prevent the caramel from melting.
